Jakes shows up to try singing karaoke at bar near Hollywood and Vine, and proves that old adage " Rock and Roll Ain't Dead, Yet It Seems To Needs a Little Recitation, Sometimes ".
Jakes spends his time singing, talking to folks, nursing his drinks, and waiting for something .. something big to happen .. for someone great to come his way .. for his luck to change.
However, Jakes finds himself using the local services of the other businesses in the area more. Finally Jakes decides that music careers are generally never to be made nor found in the Hollywood area. Careers of singers who show up in Hollywood are only kept alive and as vibrant as the moment they arrive, in Hollywood, and to be promoted as much as can be expected.
Jakes decides almost too late, to move along. The folks in the Hollywood, Los Angeles are too stuck in their traditions, and that " .. In Spite of Hell or High-Water ", ( as the saying goes ) the folks there only sell a potential for a few nights stay to see the sights and nothing much more can ever matter in Hollywood.
" I'm Not Out To Change Anyone - Nor To Change The System What Has To Be There For Things To Work ! ", Jakes explains to the staff. However, the way that Jakes sees the situation, they only know only work to keep the doors open for those who have the interests of the area to make ends meet, and do the business that they do, as they need to.
